previous cr: N/A
history: Thankfully, the MSPA WIKI is kept updated so well.
personality: 8LUH 8LUH HUGE 8ITCH. No, really, when you first meet Vriska, that's pretty much the impression you get. Like the widowed spider that she personafies, Vriska often finds herself without close friends and without the excitement she's really looking for, all because of her own doing. She's notably upset that no one seems to hate her to the extent she hates them, or like her, even. For a long time, she doesn't seem to own up to this as her own fault, instead blaming it on her shitty luck (which Kanaya describes as a series of self-fulfilling prophecies). No, if you asked her, she is more than okay with it. She has a reputation to uphold, of course, and friends are just as easy to come by as enemies. Those around her are much better suited to help further her own goals.
With her Vision Eightfold abilities and her caustic personality, Vriska is known for being manipulative and unforgiving. The people she cares little about end up being food for her lusus, while those she generally likes end up paralyzed at the least or dead at the worst. Thankfully Troll culture tolerates and even vindicates this sort of behavior, and from someone of her blood type, it's expected. While half the time she seems to accept this sort of haughtiness that comes from being of higher class, at the same time, she curses her blood color as well and holds it as some sort of burden. (Her Azure blood is on the higher end of the hemospectrum.) Despite this, Vriska often finds herself to be manipulated in the end. This is partly what fuels her rivalry with Terezi. They started out as partners in her FLARPing exploits, but Vriska's cruelty quickly turned the other girl off, and thus the competition began. Though the other girl has moved on, Vriska constantly tries to revive it. Karkat says that Vriska actually attempts to hate too hard, which in turn makes her hate lackluster and lukewarm.
But she still has to be the best, no matter what! Even at the expense of her own well-being and those around her. Their doomed game session is essentially the result of her own desire to be better and win for everyone, even going as far as upgrading the villain to the point of being unbeatable for them. And despite this, she doesn't show her comrades any sense of remorse. Vriska lives a fast-paced life and doesn't have the time to wait around for everyone else to keep up with her. She has too many irons in the fire for that. While her plans are grandiose, they don't always come to fruitation, despite her best efforts.
Vriska is known to speak in a sarcastic manner, finding most people she interacts with to be boring and not really worth her time. She does enjoy being a little flirty if it gets her what she wants, but more than anything, she is ruthless and very competitive, going into her desire to always be the best. But despite this, she does seem to have a desire to have someone around to keep her in check, shown by her outburst at Kanaya as to why the other troll can't stop her from "doing bad things". She also shows a flushed interest once Kanaya punches her in the face to knock her out of a fight, too. She has no problems pushing limits, especially if it bothers someone else in the process.
While half the time she is flattering herself and boasting about past exploits, Vriska does hold a large amount of self-doubt and insecurities. She tries so hard to seem uncaring and manipulative because that's the image she feels like she has to portray. But the truth of the matter is, Vriska may actually care too much. She admits that she feels bad when her attempts to reconcile with Aradia fail as well as when she finally kills Tavros. She actually states that she feels bad about that one. Vriska had put a lot of time and effort into "bettering" Tavros, though her methods were less than successful, she did actually harbor feelings for him. She also reveals to John that her motive for wanting to take on Jack alone isn't just to be an awesome hero, but also to protect her friends, despite the fact that she realizes all the luck may not be on her side.
From the short time we see her after she has died, Vriska appears willing to be more open with her mistakes. She even goes as far as to apologize--in her own way, of course--for Tavros' death, expressing remorse to him face-to-face. Of course, not minutes later, this turns back to her bossing him around, which goes to show that many of her personality traits are quite engrained into her being, though she is showing growth as a character.

[ The feed clicks on, the usual blanket of darkness disguising whatever pictures the camera lens tries to refocus and display properly. Vague blue outlines are the only indication of movement, until there's an annoyed sigh. After a click a bright light comes on, illuminating the user's face. Vriska's eyes dilate and grow smaller almost like act as she adjusts, before a wide, fanged smirk stands out against her blue lips. ]
I really don't know what everyone is spending so much time bitching about. Are we really afraid of the dark? Do we need a nightlight? Please! If you had any sense, you'd realize how awesomely creepy this place is. I mean, I guess as far as human standards go.
[ She leans to the side, propping her chin on the back of her hand. ]
You really don't know how good you have it, do you? You couldn't possibly realize how this place is eight times nicer--no, eight-hundred times--than running around and re-living the same mundane day-to-day experiences of people who used to be your friends?
[ There's almost a sneer on her lips, but she pretends to be good-natured about it. ]
I mean, there's not even any giant, wild beasts that could swoop in and attempt to take your pathetic life at any moment! Sure, it gets kind of boring here too, but just try to imagine how easy it is for you!
[ She drops her hand, leaning forward. ]
You're just so damn lucky, you can't even comprehend it! Wow, I'm almost totally jealous of how fortunate you are. [ A dramatic SIGH! ] But, you know, I can think of a few ways we can level the playing field...

The desolate metropolis had tried to throw every curve-ball it could at her, but Vriska had hit each pitch right out of the park. She could handle beasts on Alternia, she could handle chat rooms in Canada. Earth was full of strange things, and humans had increasingly strange customs, she was coming to realize. But nothing compared to her current combatant, her most formidable foe yet. With her brow creased in concentration, Vriska stared down the enemy, all eight pupils narrowed and focused. It had been making some sort of grumbling battle cry earlier, but for the moment, it sat silent. Waiting.
Watching.
At least that's what she figured it was doing. Clearly it had something against her. It had little red eyes, flashing at her, teasing, daring her not to finish what she had set out to do. But no, she would accomplish the mission placed before her and she would pass with flying colors, whatever that was supposed to mean. Except they would be more blue than anything else, because blue was clearly the best. All the other colors simply couldn't compare.
Raising her chin, Vriska stood to her full height. "Don't think you've won just yet!" She flipped a lock of hair over her shoulder and scoffed. Really, she had taken on Jack Noir--okay, she hadn't quite done that, but she was totally planning on it!--this was nothing in comparison. Earth would not defeat Vriska Serket!
Reaching out, Vriska turned the dial with a forceful, deciding twist. "Permanent Press...Heavy!"
This machine would need all the help it could get.
With one final pull, the dial popped out and the sound of rushing water could be heard from beneath the metal lid. Vriska smirked, crossing her arms.
Laundry never had a chance.

abilities/powers:
Vision Eightfold
This has to do with the fact that one of Vriska's eyes has seven pupils, giving her a total of eight functioning. When she focuses all these onto an object, it gives her a sort of x-ray vision. She uses this to see through Doc Scratch's Magic Cue Ball, and subsequently loses her left eye over it. (Though, due to her sort of re-set with the death of her dreamself and ascension to God Tier, she has regained her left eye.)
Mind Control
It's exactly what it sounds like! Vriska can control the actions of whoever she chooses, which, in canon, leads to the deaths of a few friends and acquaintances, as well as allowing the main villain to reach the form he does. This does seem to even cut across time and space, as she influences the actions of the humans in their game session as well. There are, however, quite a few who are immune to her abilities, though it's never explicitly stated what the requirements are. Terezi, for example, is immune, despite Vriska's best efforts. It should also be noted that when she's in control of a person, she is also in control of their special abilities, as well, like Tavros and his ability to commune with animals.
